Power to Change is a community of Christians – a non-profit, evangelical Christian parachurch organisation. We have offices in Melbourne (National HQ), Sydney and Brisbane with missionaries and volunteers serving with us in various parts of Australia.
Globally, we are known as Campus Crusade for Christ International with the global headquarters located in Orlando, Florida. The global movement is currently made up of over 15,000 full-time workers and 200,000 trained volunteers with an active presence in 205 countries around the world. Internationally, apart from Campus Crusade for Christ, we are known by various names e.g. Cru in the USA and some countries in Asia, Agapé in Europe, and Power to Change in Canada.
Our purpose is to help fulfil the Great Commission in Australia and beyond by connecting people to Jesus, building them and sending them in the power of the Holy Spirit, and helping the body of Christ do the same. Our mission is to connect, build and send Christ-centred disciplemakers who launch and lead spiritual movements.
Our primary focus is to help people encounter Jesus today, impact Australia tomorrow and reach the nations for eternity. Our primary method is connecting people to Jesus, building them up as His disciples, and sending them out to do the same. Our desire is that they then continually engage in the connect-build-send process of being a movement builder or multiplying disciplemaker.
Power to Change missionaries seek to make disciples and engage people in schools, universities, churches, online and in our neighbourhoods. We serve across five strategies: Campus, Church Movements, Digital, Global Aid, and Youth. We also have members serving in our Headquarters to resource and support our missionaries, through the areas of HR, development and well-being, marketing/communications, social media, operations and finances.

The organisation (originally known as Campus Crusade for Christ) was founded in the USA through Bill & Vonette Bright at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1951. Their vision was to help fulfil the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) given by Jesus Christ, which calls the church to make disciples of all nations.
Power to Change began in Australia in 1967, as the Lay Institute for Evangelism, led by Reverend Geoff Fletcher in Sydney. Over the past 40 years, we have been known by several names as an overall organisation, and have had dozens of differently-named field ministries. Some of our more well-known names and field ministries you may have known us by include:
Life Ministries, Student Life (university ministry), Youth Ministries Australia (high school), Creative Arts Ministry or CRAM (musical bands in schools), Family Life Australia (younger families), The Jesus Film, Life-Saving Chaplaincy Australia, and Athletes in Action.
In 2016, our various ministries in Australia all joined under the name “Power to Change.”
Power to Change is made up of people from various denominational backgrounds united by core Christian doctrinal beliefs outlined in our Statement of Faith.
While we focus on a specific demographic, we partner with all like-minded organisations, local churches, donors and leaders to accomplish our vision. Many partners give of their labour, influence, finances and expertise (LIFE) and prayer. Global Aid Network (GAiN) is our humanitarian partner, demonstrating the love of God by revealing hope and restoring life through relief and development projects for people in crisis and poverty. Together with our partners, we are Changemakers, investing in the next generation.

It is recommended that those considering serving with Power to Change volunteer at least six to twelve months with us before applying. People wishing to apply to serve with Campus are also required to complete their undergraduate degree before applying or by the time they begin ministry partner development. If you are not an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident, you may be eligible to apply to be an International Intern with the Campus Strategy. To find out more, please contact Tim Campbell.
If you live outside of Australia and are interested in joining Power to Change, please contact Cru/Campus Crusade for Christ in your country to explore your options.
Power to Change missionaries each have a team of ministry partners who pray and/or give financially to enable them to serve in the movement. Successful applicants are assigned a ministry partner development coach who will support them through the process of gathering a team of ministry partners. This normally takes between 6 and 12 months. Power to Change is very experienced with this method of funding mission work with over 150 people currently serving in Australia using this model.
As mentioned above, It is recommended that those considering serving with Power to Change volunteer at least six to twelve months with us before applying. If you need help getting in touch with someone to find out what opportunities there are to volunteer, please fill out our contact form.
If you have already been volunteering with Power to Change, please speak with the missionary you know best to discuss your options (including what status/role you wish to apply for). Your missionary contact will be able to get in touch with HR for you to initiate the application process.
If you have any further questions, you can send them to us through the contact form or call our office on (03) 9014 7584.
