Youth

Youth seeks to connect High School students to Jesus and to each other. This is done through serving school communities and through various creative arts.

Special Religious Education

Special Religious Education (SRE) (also known as Scripture) has been part of NSW schooling since 1849. The current NSW Education Act requires that time be allocated for religious education in all government schools and, in the case of Christian SRE, that this teaching be delivered by authorised persons representing the Christian faith.

Chaplaincy

Power to Change’s Chaplains demonstrate Jesus’s love and hope as they live out
their faith, and provide spiritual and emotional support to school communities. They
work alongside other school staff in helping students discover better ways to
articulate and deal with the many issues they face on a daily basis.

Amber Lights

Amber Lights bring a highly engaging performance that challenges teenagers to think more deeply about their direction and purpose in life.

HISTORY

In 2015, Creative Arts Ministries and Youth Ministries Australia was established as Power to Change, with a focus on youth. But who are we? Where did it all start? “Youth Ministries Australia” (YMA) was founded by Bill and Faye Hodgson in 1979 with the vision of ‘seeing the church equipped to intentionally go and make disciples of young people who will passionately follow Jesus and disciple their own generation to do the same.’ YMA had an active presence in partnering with churches and youth leadership in better equipping them to see this vision fulfilled.

KEEPING CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE SAFE

Power to Change is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all within our programs and to providing an environment where all participants including children and young people and adults feel safe, respected, and empowered to actively participate in decisions that affect their lives.

We have a Safe Ministry Policy. We are committed to the physical, emotional & spiritual welfare of people. We have zero tolerance for any form of child abuse.

Our safe ministry practices cover:

  • Screening & recruitment of workers

  • Accountability

  • Program planning & approval

  • Code of conduct

  • Incident reporting

  • Record keeping

  • Work, Health & Safety- in accordance with legislation, Power to Change undertakes to do all it can to ensure health & safety.
