JESUS Film Australia Roadshow – June 2024

JESUS Film Australia Roadshow New Christian Gospel Film Power to Change

This June, Power to Change toured four major cities to share news about a new animated JESUS film slated for a 2026 release. The roadshow visited Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth, drawing nearly 500 leaders from prominent Christian organisations, denominations, and local churches, all eager to learn about this project aimed at bringing the gospel story to new audiences both in Australia and around the world.

The film’s Global Marketing Director Geoff Peters and Executive Producer Gabe Handy, visiting from the US, joined Power to Change for the event. Their presentations inspired leaders with insights into the biblical research behind the project and the potential for this film to create a spiritual impact on Australian families.

One Indigenous Australian pastor who attended said,

“I loved it! I’ll be doing outreach in Alice Springs and other remote communities that need to see this film.”

Churches, schools, and families will find this state-of-the-art animation and storyline more than a film but an effective tool for sharing the love of Christ in today’s culture.

JESUS Film Project, known worldwide for its original live-action portrayal of Jesus’ life from 1979, holds a Guinness World Record as the most translated film in history, currently available in over 2,100 languages. The re-imagined animated film will be released in cinemas worldwide in late 2026, in 100 languages, with immersive virtual and augmented reality products to follow shortly after. Attendees of the event were able to experience the VR concept and went home with a bag of the movie’s paraphernalia and other Power to Change resources for churches and individuals passionate about reaching this generation for Christ.

When attendees were asked if uni students would go see it in cinemas, a campus pastor responded,

“I loved stepping into the virtual reality booth. I can see us using the VR element a lot on campuses. I think students are interested in who Jesus is. I’ll be inviting some students [of another faith] to see the movie with me.”
