Regardless of whether you have been following Jesus for many years or just getting to know Him, we would love to have you be part of MYC 2019!

Meet the Speaker
John North is a godly guy hailing from the hills of Sydney. As this year's guest speaker for Mid Year Conference, John will be teaching us from the bible about 'Eternity' and what does that mean for us now. When he isn't busy being the National Director of Ambassadors for Christ International, he is at home or adventuring with his wife Lois and their four kids. John's great knowledge of the Bible was gained through his education at Dallas Theological Seminary and his service around the world which he is excited to share with us! Here is a little Q&A and a message from John to get to know him better.
What do you do day to day as a career?
I am the National Director of Ambassadors for Christ International
What's your prior involvement/experience with Power to Change?
I love speaking into the lives of uni students and have done the teaching at close to 20 MYCs in NSW and QLD over the years.
What do I love about God?
He is so complex that my mind cannot comprehend him no matter how it stretches and yet knowing him is so simple that a child can know him deeply.
What most excites you about the Word of God?
Some people study the Bible to know the Bible. What I love about the Bible is the God who meets me there.
What do you hope to see and experience at this conference (can be silly or funny)?
I think we should see the missionaries do a special item at the dance party!
What's something most don't know about you?
I was born in India. I play DOTA. I don't like chocolate.
What We'll Get Up To
Worship: We get to come together and worship God through music each morning and will have a final night of worship together.
Quiet Time: While we want everyone to gather together to learn from the Bible, we also want you to get alone time to read the bible, talk to God, and process anything you may be learning.
Nightlife: In the evenings there will be time to play games, have a chat over supper, and have fun with the new people you are meeting!
Teaching: We get to hear and learn from our main speaker John North. He’ll be teaching us about God's Word and what makes it essential for the Christian life.
Training: There will be multiple opportunities to break out into sessions to learn about God, be trained in how to talk to people about Jesus, or be part of leading the movement at your campus!
Mission: Power to Change wants the Gospel to be made known not only on university campuses in Australia, but all over the world! With this in mind, we’ll get to hear about the places we can go over summer to serve and engage people in conversations about Jesus.
Free Time: Teaching and training can be fun, but we like to break it up a bit and have fun with new and old friends. Beach time, sport, and other activities are what students typically find themselves doing during their free time.
Campus Time: Bond with people from your own campus or area! Campus time is important to us because it encourages us to continue pursuing God and community even when conference is over.
International Community: MYC is a place for both local Australian and International students can come together to connect with Jesus and each other. There will be opportunities for our friends whose first language isn’t English to experience teaching and training in community with other international students, on top of the program elements that will be together.

MYC was definitely a 2017 highlight for me. Last year was my first year at uni and being involved with Power to Change. MYC really helped connect me to other students and make some really great friends. The week was heaps of fun, and I learnt heaps. I was personally really challenged in my prayer and evangelism which is continuing to shape my walk with God today. We also stayed right on the beach (slightly less important I guess) but made the week even better still :)
Jack Lu, Monash University, Melbourne
Celeste Guo, International Student Ministry, Monash University, Melbourne
My experience at MYC last year was amazing. Throughout the interaction with other Christian students, I was so encouraged by their various testimonies. I really enjoyed the fellowship. More importantly, I got trained by missionaries during the camp, which helped me gain a range of skills like starting outreaches and leading discipleships. It also further shaped my faith in God. As a result, the reason why I encourage students to go to MYC this year is that it is a really good opportunity for meeting different Christians, getting training, and shaping the faith in God.

I know a bunch of people who have gone to MYC, and each one takes a different thing away from it. Some people really like the talks, others like the training. Personally, the thing I like most about MYC is getting away from my daily life, and jumping straight into a community of people who are all so focused on worhsiping the same God that I do. Whether you want to get trained in how to share your faith, or meet some super fantastic people, there is so much to do at MYC, that whether it is your first or fifth time, I 100% recommend going!
Saranyaa Maruthappandian, International Student Ministry, Sydney University
The conference has been the best part of my university life so far. It was incredible to meet so many new students and develop deep friendships. Hearing the different testimonies of students amazed me of how God reaches out to us at unexpected ways and times. The speaker's messages convicted my heart to lead a life that God wants me to live. The various talks that were provided were a practical guide on how to lead such a life. The whole conference was a large boost for my Christian life.
I would encourage anyone exploring Christianity or wanting to grow in God to take a leap of faith and see what wonderful things God has in plan for you, just as He had planned for me.
Why should I attend MYC?
Power to Change Campus’ MYC is specifically designed to help you - as a student in NSW and Victoria - join with other students from your campus in living out Jesus’ commission in your everyday life. It is also a place where you can explore more about who Jesus is and what Christianity is all about in the context of community. At MYC you will build and deepen friendships with fellow students that will continue to grow through the rest of the year. We’ll be talking about things immediately relevant to your situation on campus, and providing practical skills that will help you follow Jesus more closely in second semester. And you will come to understand how and why Power to Change does things on your campus, and how you can play a part.
Who is MYC for?
MYC is designed especially for tertiary students, but anyone with an interest in attending is very welcome. We will have families, graduates, and friends joining us. Final year high school students and young adults will find MYC most beneficial.
Who will be at MYC?
The primary attendees of MYC will be uni students from around NSW and Victoria. There are students from over 6 universities planning to attend, so MYC will have lots of opportunities to spend time with old and new friends.
Can I invite friends who are not part of Power to Change?
You certainly can; MYC is for all young adults who have a desire to grow in their relationship with God, whether they are just finding out about Him or have been Christians for a long time. Most of the input at MYC will beneficial to anyone journeying with God, not just those specifically involved in Power to Change.
Can people who are not Christians come to MYC?
Yes, everyone is welcome to attend MYC regardless of their spiritual background. If you are investigating and asking questions about God and spiritual issues, MYC is a great opportunity to connect with people happy to chat in a relaxed way about this. You won't be asked to participate in any activities you don't feel comfortable with, and there will be alternate options available during things like small group training.
What will we do at MYC?
The program each day at MYC combines Bible teaching, small group practical ministry training, worship, and plenty of free time which has optional activities. There is time scheduled each day to spend some time alone with God, and also to connect with a small group of people to encourage each other during the week. MYC is designed to help you connect with God and with those around you.
Will there be free time? What activities are there?
There will be free time most afternoons and evenings. Optional activities will be available, but you're very welcome to use that time to have some downtime from the program. The activities will include things such as mini golf, tennis, basketball, table tennis, using the indoor pool/spa/steam room, soccer on the oval, board games, craft, karaoke, and other opportunities to connect with others around fun activities.
Is it an issue if I don't know anyone else going to MYC?
There are plenty of opportunities to get to know people at MYC, in fact MYC is designed for people who may now know many others. You'll be assigned to a specific group of up tofour people to meet as a prayer and reflection group throughout the week, as well as getting to know others in your training group, and from your state and uni during the 'Get Connected' time. Fun free time activities throughout the week are another great opportunity to meet new friends.
What do I need to bring?
You can find a list of what to bring with you to MYC on the What to Bring page.
What is the accommodation like?
The MYC venue, Wollongong Surf Leisure Resort, has self-contained cabins, each with a bathroom, lounge room and kitchen (microwave, stove and basic kitchen utensils included).
Who will I be rooming with?
You'll be allocated a cabin with up to four other people of the same gender (except in the case of families and married couples). During the registration process you can indicate if there are people you would particularly like to room with and we'll do our best to put you with at least one of those people. However if you don't have a particular preference or if you don't know anyone else at MYC, you'll be placed with people from your campus or region so you can get to know some new friends.
Can I come part time?
You are very welcome to come to as much of MYC as you're available for; before you register, contact us to let us know when you're planning to attend and we'll let you know the part time rate for that time and give you special instructions for registering. (Note: certain discounts do not apply to part-timers.)
Why does it cost $499?
We're committed to organising a memorable, life-changing conference as well as keeping costs low. This is actually a fantastic price for everything that you get at MYC! The price covers all the food, accommodation, training and conference materials, equipment and activities, and speaker fees. The venue gives us a generous deal, and we save some money by doing some of the catering ourselves and compared to other options this is the best venue and price for a group of our size and needs.
How do I pay?
All payments will be handled by your Campus Registrar; contact them to find out how to pay. If you would like to pay by credit card, let us know via the Contact Us page (processing fees apply).
I can't afford the cost of MYC, what can I do?
We know that MYC can be expensive for students, even though the value is good. We don't want finances to be a barrier to anyone attending, so if you're not able to afford the cost of MYC, please contact your Campus Registrar to find out about the subsidies available. If your campus is not listed, contact us and we'll put you in touch with the right person.
If your question isn't answered here, please contact us.
