A week before Easter, Siu was connected to Cecilia through the on-campus outreach at Monash Uni. They met for lunch, along with Sophie, a Christian student that Cecilia has been mentoring.
During lunch, they found out that Siu had arrived in Australia from Hong Kong just before the first lockdown in Melbourne. Having spent the majority of her first year in Australia in lockdown, Siu said she was feeling lonely and wanted to make friends. So Cecilia and Sophie began bringing Siu along to House of Peace, a small group that meets each week to eat dinner and study the Bible together. They also brought her to church and socials.
After a few weeks, Siu mentioned that she wanted to find out more about the Bible, as she felt that what she had learned so far was already saving her life. So they invited Siu to study the Bible together.
During their first session together, they shared the gospel with Siu, taking time to explain each point to her. Siu said she wanted to ask Jesus into her life as her Lord and Saviour and to know for sure that He will always be with her. So they were able to pray the Sinner’s Prayer together.
Later, Siu said she felt that God knew about her loneliness and had answered her plea for help by introducing her to Cecilia and the other sisters in Power to Change. Siu is continuing to grow in her new faith and continuing to come to the House of Peace as well as church each week.
