Giving Help and Hope

Are you looking for some tools to help your relationship develop? Never fear! Here you will find a wide range of resources that aim to inspire and equip you and your relationship for years to come. We’ve included books, articles, tools and web resources to help you get to where you want to go.

Helping Relationships Thrive

We live in serious times. The family is under siege as never before and its structure is collapsing. We have a younger generation who have been burned by their own parents divorce. As a result, there is an increased cynicism to marriage in Australia with over 1 million couples living together unmarried. Almost half of our nations children are being born outside of the context of marriage. Australians want relationships to work but are seeing unprecedented failure. Power to Change needs men and women who say “enough is enough.”

These are serious times, but they are times of immense opportunity. We invite you to be a part of a grand work that God is doing!

Power to Change is reaching thousands of families through events, radio broadcasts, small group studies, resources, and the internet. Still, we feel like we are only scratching the surface. There are over five million families in Australia and we have a heightened awareness that more families need to hear God’s truths for marriage and family in a relevant way. To reach them, we need your help.
The pivotal issue facing Australia today is not crime, education, or the environment ... It is the spiritual condition of families.

Our Volunteers

volunteersVolunteers are the vital link that enlarges our reach and movement to strengthen and encourage couples in marriages and family. A qualification to be an effective volunteer is to share our passion to improve families – turning houses into Godly homes. Power to Change Families volunteers are men and women – couples – who are living out their conviction to be active in bringing God’s perfect plan for marriage to our communities. They are people like you… providing hope to other couples who see them as a ‘living example’ of a strong marriage and family.

Volunteer opportunities range from:

  • serving onsite at our conferences in administrative functions such as our resource centre, and audio/visual and venue/customer relations
  • serving as a church representative by working towards establishing a marriage movement in your church with the help of Power to Change.
  • Serving on a local conference ministry team is the critical piece in bringing life changing events to your city. Local promotion team accomplishes this through two foundational elements: prayer coverage and inviting individuals to events through church networking.
  • Lead a HomeBuilders or Together small group study on marriage for couples.

Our volunteers are central to a Power to Change movement. We are grateful for their investment of time and for sharing their gifts and talents to make a difference in their community.

We Are Passionate About Changed Lives

Without a doubt, the dream of a happy relationship is one of the most consistent longings of the human heart. We want to marry our best friend and then enjoy a lifetime relationship together. Despite the bleak statistics that we often hear, the truth is that many people actually do enjoy life-long fulfilling marriages.

Great relationships don't just happen though. They take hard work. We don't need to tell you the many ways that our relationships can get sidetracked. We are here to provide help for today and hope for tomorrow. We want to inspire and equip you with the right practical tools so that you can experience a love that lasts.

If you're having a hard go of it in your relationship or just want your relationship to be better, consider one of the options below as a way to begin the conversation and start your journey towards a more fulfilling and loving relationship.

We are passionate about changed lives because every marriage and family is worth it!

Find a love that lasts

Life has a way of overwhelming a relationship. Jobs, activities, errands, kids, chores. Routines can easily become ruts. Before you know it, checking your e-mail is more important than carving out some time together.

Whether you're married, living together or dating, Power to Change wants to give you a chance to take the time to help, nurture and enhance your relationship. By offering time-tested practical relationship conferences, radio broadcasts and practical community resources for real-world issues faced by couples every day, Power to Change has helped marriages and families become stronger across Australia by providing hope and practical tools to help your relationship flourish.

It’s time to slow down and rediscover each other. It's what all couples are looking for ... a love that lasts.

About Family

Sydney Couple

Families, marriage and relationships are special. They bringing joy and meaning to life. Sadly, around Australia, many families are living in crisis. The reasons for the great number of unsuccessful marriages and broken families are many and often complex. We are all searching though for a love that lasts - it’s the one thing people want more than anything, yet it seems to be the one thing that’s the hardest to find; certainly, to keep.

In a world full of disposable relationships and alarming divorce statistics, it's easy to wonder is there any chance for my relationship to succeed over the long haul?  We think there is hope!

What we do

Changed lives; that's what motivates us. We love hearing stories of couples whose lives have been transformed. That's what we are about at Power to Change; to inspire and equip couples to be successfully married for a lifetime.

Power to Change helps to transform relationships through providing hope and practical tools. We base our events and resources on research, experience of what works and we use the Bible as a key reference point. Our events and resources are suitable for those who are married, preparing for marriage, remarried, living together or in a long term relationship … struggling or solid. Everything we do is designed to be practical, fun, inspiring and give hope to those of all faiths or none at all.

How can we help bring about change?

Power to Change is a growing network of people who care about and are doing something to help strengthen relationships and support marriage in their communities.

Like all families, we have experienced ups and downs and we’ve found there are some timeless principles that work. Our lives have changed and we are passionate about sharing this with others by building a movement for family life and marriage. Our heart is to help equip couples with practical and helpful tools that they can use. We've all struggled in marriage and there is hope. We are here to help.

We have the programme for you!

Power to Change understands the power of radio and podcasting for reaching and supporting families.  Each week we use a variety of radio programmes to help and encourage everyday Australians in their marriages, relationships and family life.

In addition to seminars, conferences, books, DVD’s and CD’s, Power to Change provides audio programmes to Australian radio stations and is heard internationally throughout the Asia Pacific region via shortwave and podcasting. You can listen to many of these same helpful programs right here on the Power to Change website.

We live in unprecedented times. The Coronavirus pandemic has changed the world we live in. From social distancing to panic buying and the canceling of events, it's no wonder that many of us can feel quite anxious, frustrated, vulnerable and lonely. While the public focus is on CoViD-19, there are a lot of benefits that self-isolation can provide. What a great time to reflect and re-focus on the things that are important to our families. We want to help provide some free resources that will help you but will also help you be a blessing to others.

My Lock Down Diary

Christchurch artist Stephen McCarthy has created a 28-page printable for kids to write and draw how they're doing and how they're feeling throughout the lockdown. There are several different activities that will serve as a memento for children and adults alike to remember this pandemic and the effect it has had on all of us.

Get Involved

Families come in all sizes, shapes and colours. They are blended, broken, single parent, foster, step, same-sex and traditional. Successfully connecting with such families demands that we take into account their diversity and the new challenges they bring. We believe in the potential of the local church as a critical change agent. Let's work together to help rebuild Australian families.

  • 10 Ideas: Connecting With Your Kids

In today’s activity-packed society, it’s more important than ever to intentionally connect with your kids. By Mary May Larmoyeux Children are a heritage from the Lord.—Psalm 127:3 In today’s activity-packed society, it’s more important than ever to intentionally connect with your kids. Here are 10 ideas that can help you get to know your children better and pass on a legacy of faith and fun.

  • 10 Ideas: Reflecting the Fruit of the Spirit

How long since you’ve had a checkup to assess your spiritual health? By Scott Williams  Not long ago, a seasoned marathoner had just crossed the finish line with an impressive time when he suffered a heart attack and died. From the outside, he looked to be the picture of health, but a fatal condition was hiding on the inside. Every one of us needs an occasional visit to the doctor for a checkup to make sure everything is working alright and that we don’t have an unknown serious internal condition.

  • 31 Questions to Help You Be a Better Parent

Answer these questions with honesty, humility, and dependence on God’s power. By Janel Breitenstein Feeling passionate about parenting? If you’d genuinely like a shot in the arm for your parenting, perhaps these questions can get you started. But remember: Their effectiveness is proportionate to your level of honesty, humility, and most of all, dependence on God’s power to make His presence a reality in your children’s lives.

  • 4 Ideas to Improve Your Lovemaking

By Tricia Goyer I like using the term lovemaking when talking about sex in marriage. Any two consenting adults can have sex, but it takes committed-for-life marriage partners to make love. Lovemaking comforts because it releases tension. A backrub is good for tense bodies, a sexual release even better. God was ingenious in His creation. Through lovemaking we can create life, experience one-flesh intimacy and deep knowledge, enjoy deep pleasure, and even comfort each other in times of stress or sorrow.

  • 7 Things to Remember About Sex

What it’s Important to Remember about Sex By Bob Lepine  It’s no surprise that many husbands and wives think differently about sex. And these differences can easily become a source of conflict in marriage.  With that in mind, I want to suggest seven things men need to remember about sex and seven things wives need to keep in mind as well:

  • Are You Ready to Be a Mentor?

Teaching younger couples to have a great marriage may not be as hard as you think By Sabrina Beasley McDonald You’ve heard about the importance of mentoring younger couples, and you’re even willing to give it a try, but you’re scared. Perhaps you’ve had problems in your own marriage that need to be solved. You’ve messed up in the past, and you’re not sure if you’re worthy to teach others how to do things “the right way.” It’s true that mentoring is not for everyone—there are some couples who have serious problems that need to be worked out. But if you are in a growing, working marriage, you may be the perfect candidate to mentor younger couples in your church…especially if you’ve messed up in the past. Mentoring isn’t about having a perfect marriage. No one’s marriage is perfect because none of us is perfect.
