Getaway is Power to Change’s first annual gathering where you can connect with
students across Brisbane. Come join us for one night, make some friends, explore
faith and life’s deepest questions – there’s nothing to lose!
Musical Worship: We will have a campfire whilst there so if you fancy yourself a
musical star and have an instrument you’d like to bring feel free to do so for a
campfire sing along.
Small Groups: Gather together with old friends and new ones alike to grow deeper
together as you share your life experiences with one another.
Nightlife: Bring some games with you and enjoy marshmallows with the campfire
Mandatory – Please bring the following items with you to Getaway:
– Clothes for the 2 days
– Bible and journal (if you have one)
– Closed in shoes
– Bedding (sheets, sleeping bag/blanket, pillow)
– Umbrella
– Hat/Sunscreen
– Toiletries
– Swimmers
Optional Items:
– Cards or board games to play during free time
– Snack food that you would like to eat in your dorm/share with your dorm mates

Why should I attend Getaway?
Power to Change’s Getaway is designed to help you connect with Christian’s from all around Brisbane early in the year. It is a place to form friendships, ask challenging questions, and have plenty of fun.
Who will be at Getaway? Can I invite friends who are not part of Power to
Change? Can I come if I am not a Christian?
Getaway is designed especially for tertiary students, so the primary attendees will be uni students from around Brisbane. And yes! Students who are not Christians or part of Power to Change are welcome to come! Getaway is for all young adults, regardless of their spiritual background who have a desire to grow in their relationship with God or are wanting to explore and ask questions about Christianity. If you are not Christian, you won’t be asked to participate in any activities you don’t feel comfortable with.
Is it an issue if I don’t know anyone else going to Getaway?
There are plenty of opportunities to get to know people at Getaway! In fact, the trip is designed for people who may not know many others as well. During the weekend you’ll be assigned to a small group of four people from different campuses. So
come along and get connected! If you’re nervous to come without knowing anyone please reach out to us and ask to get connected beforehand!
What do I need to bring?

What is the accommodation/site like?
We will be staying in ensuite cabins at Glengarry Education Centre. Lots of outdoor spaces to enjoy! All meals will be catered for by Power to Change. There will not be cooking facilities in the bedrooms.
Who will I be rooming with?
You’ll be allocated a cabin with a few other people of the same gender (except in the case of families and married couples). During the registration process you can indicate if there are people you would particularly like to room with and we’ll do our best to put you with at least one of those people. However if you don’t have a particular preference or if you don’t know anyone else at Getaway, you’ll be placed with people so you can get to know some new friends.
How do I pay?
Once you have registered you will receive an automated email which includes your registration details and banking information. If you cannot transfer money into the bank account, get to a Commonwealth branch or you did not receive the automated email please contact stacey.kerr@powertochange.org.au.
What about COVID? What happens if I get sick before Getaway?
If you have any symptoms in the lead up to Getaway please do a test and let alana.witherington@powertochange.org.au know when you receive a negative result.
