Queensland MYC 2019 image

Is this life all there is or is there more?

How do we wrap our heads around a concept like 'Eternity' and what difference does that make in our lives now?

Come and explore this, and much more, at Mid Year Conference 2019.

Students from all over Queensland will come together for 6 days of teaching, practical training and lots of fun with friends, new and old! John North, our keynote speaker, will be opening the Bible with us, helping us to shift our perspective to eternity and how that impacts how we live in the here and now.

Regardless of whether you have been following Jesus for many years or just getting to know Him, we would love to have you be part of MYC 2019!

Meet the Speaker

John North

John North

John North is a godly guy hailing from the hills of Sydney. As this year's guest speaker for Mid Year Conference, John will be teaching us from the bible about 'Eternity' and what does that mean for us now. When he isn't busy being the National Director of Ambassadors for Christ International, he is at home or adventuring with his wife Lois and their four kids. John's great knowledge of the Bible was gained through his education at Dallas Theological Seminary and his service around the world which he is excited to share with us! Here is a little Q&A and a message from John to get to know him better.

What do you do day to day as a career?

I am the National Director of Ambassadors for Christ International

What's your prior involvement/experience with Power to Change?

I love speaking into the lives of uni students and have done the teaching at close to 20 MYCs in NSW and QLD over the years.

What do I love about God?

He is so complex that my mind cannot comprehend him no matter how it stretches and yet knowing him is so simple that a child can know him deeply.

What most excites you about the Word of God?

Some people study the Bible to know the Bible. What I love about the Bible is the God who meets me there.

What's something most don't know about you?

I was born in India. I play DOTA. I don't like chocolate.

What we'll get up to

We get to come together and worship God through music a couple times a day and even have a night of Praise and Worship led by our worship band!

Quiet Time:
While we want everyone to gather together to learn from the Bible, we also want you to get time alone to read the Bible, talk to God, and process anything you may be learning.

In the evenings there will be time to play games, have a chat, do crafts, and have fun with the new people you are meeting!

We get to hear and learn from our main speaker John North. He'll be teaching from the Bible about Eternity!

There will be multiple opportunities to break out into sessions to learn about God, be trained in how to talk to people about Jesus, or be part of leading the movement at your campus!

Going Global:
Power to Change wants the Gospel to be made known not only on university campuses in Australia, but all over the world. With this goal in mind, we'll get to hear about the places we can go overseas for a summer or longer to share our faith with others.

Free Time:
Teaching and training can be fun, but we like to break it up a bit and have fun with new and old friends. Sport, games, coffee, rest, and other activities are what students typically find themselves doing during their free time.

Campus Time:
Bond with people from your own campus or area! Campus time is important to us because it encourages us to continue pursuing God and community even when conference is over.

International Community:
MYC is a place for both local Australian and International students to come together to connect with Jesus and each other. There will be arrangements made for our friends whose first language is not English to experience the same teaching and training everyone is engaging with. There will be lots of opportunities to experience community with other international students!
