"Breakthrough" means a sudden, dramatic, and important discovery or development. Maybe you're discovering God and what he is like, or perhaps you're eager to develop your faith. But in both cases Christ is our focus during this Conference. It is a weekend to hear from speakers, connect with friends, and enjoy the beautiful beaches of the Sunshine Coast! This year Breakthrough will have a focus on missional community.

Meet the Speaker


 Dan Paterson
Dan is the founder of Questioning Christianity, a ministry aimed at connecting the Christian story to life’s deepest questions. With a personal background of wrestling through the problem of evil before becoming a Christian, he has gone on to study theology and apologetics in Australia and at Oxford, fuelled by a passion to help others process their doubts and discover the relevance and reasonableness of faith in Jesus. Dan is based in Brisbane, Australia, where together with his wife Erin their favourite job is raising three boys: Josiah, Zachariah, and Seth.

Who will be there?
University students studying across SE Queensland, missionaries, volunteers and whoever else wants to join us for the weekend. We will have people from UQ, QUT, Griffith and more. 

Can I invite my friends that are not involved with Power To Change?
Yes! We welcome all young adults, you don't need to be involved with Power To Change on campus to attend.

Can I invite my not yet Christian friends?
Yes! Breakthrough is an awesome opportunity for them to witness Christian community, hear awesome talks, and have a chance to have their questions answered. 

What do we get up to at Breakthrough?
We worship, pray, have fellowship, eat, have fun and sometimes get sleep. 



What is the accommodation like?
Depending on which building you are in will depend on what your room looks like. In the past we have been in Kings, which is a two bedroom ensuite cabin with a kitchenette and dining area and Moffat which is a one bedroom cabin with ensuite and kitchenette. All the accommodation is air conditioned. Due to safety reasons there are many outside lights on in the night so bring an eye mask or extra sheet to hang up.

Who will I be roomed with?
On your registration you would have been asked to add in suggestions. We do our best to accommodate those requests but can't always do so. If you are a heavy snorer or a light sleeper please let us know. 

Can I swap rooms?
Due to COVID we are unlikely able to swap people around in rooms. We need to know who is in what room for the fire registry.


Registration (onsite):

I am arriving late, can I get dinner saved for me?
No. Due to the site's OH&S policy we cannot save a meal for you. If you are arriving more than 15 mins after the start of a meal we will not be able to save one for you. 

Where is registration?
Registration will be in the transit centre when conference starts. If you are arriving outside of the usual registration time please come to the foyer to the main auditorium and wait for Stacey there for late check in. 

What time is registration?
Registration is 3pm 26th March until 5:30pm. From 4pm is campus time so please aim to arrive before then. Registration will open for late regos Friday night at around 6:45pm in the main auditorium's foyer.


Registration (pre-conference):

I registered for conference and can no longer attend, what can I do?

If you are not attending and you let us know before rego closes you will get a full refund. If you tell us after registration closes a refund is not guaranteed. 

When does registration close?
Registration closes at 11:55pm 10th March. Site forms are due two weeks before the event and an extra couple of days so that the team can sort out room allocations. 

Can someone be added after registration closes?
We cannot add to our numbers once the forms have been sent in. If someone pulls out after rego is closed, a new person can replace them, but only if they are the same gender. 



When are payments due?

What can I do if I cannot afford the full amount?

The Breakthrough team is working along side our National Crisis Response Team to have a COVIDSafe event. We will be monitoring the situation in Qld and we will work together in keeping us all COVIDSafe.

The conference team will
- Encourage all attendees to download the COVIDSafe app
- Work with the venue to have a COVIDSave environment
- Set up our meeting spaces to accommodate social distancing
- Provide hand sanitiser in multiple locations to encourage frequent hand washing
- Temperture checks on arrival to the venue and each morning before Breakfast
- Send attendees information on any any hot spot locations in the lead up to conference

We ask that attendees
- Download the COVIDSave app
- Do not attend conference if they are unwell
- Do not attend conference if they have been contacted as part of contact tracing efforts or have been in an area that is deemed a Hotspot
- Practise good hygiene
- Practise social distancing
